Marboy House

jou.house 30

Project Type : Design and Build
Area : 91 / 110 sqm
Concept : Modern tropical house

A modern tropical home arranged around a balance of openness and privacy. Openings bring natural light and fresh air into the house while sheltered spaces offer comfort and seclusion. Connections between indoor rooms and the courtyard keep the home close to its surroundings.

The concept of Rumah Anas about human does not apply only to its name, it is also applied in its concept of form and how we design the house

Front elevation concept diagram

Inspired by the meaning of Anas—human in Arabic—the architectural form of Rumah Anas is derived from the composition of the human body. The massing is organized into three parts: left, center, and right. The central mass symbolizes the head and torso, serving as both the heart of the home and its architectural focal point. The flanking masses accommodate supporting functions, creating a balanced composition that expresses the project's concept.

Project Type : Design and Build
Land : 135 sqm
Building : 120 sqm
Concept : Contemporary House

Our very first residential project, located in Cimanggis, near Cibubur, West Java.

Named Anas, meaning human, the house was envisioned as a place where meaningful interactions naturally unfold, socially, spiritually, and with the surrounding environment. Designed for a young couple with strong family ties, it serves not only as a home but also as a welcoming gathering place where relationships can grow and memories are shared.

Land : 135 sqm

Concept : Tropical modern minimalist

Another finished hook type of jouhouse project located in Cibubur is designed in a modern tropical concept of architecture and interior. However, the main idea was to create a more stylish and compact visual of design that translate the client’s needs and wild ideas even in a limited site rather than the common modern tropical concept that is usually represented in a more massive and luxurious type of design.

As maintaining our concern in an efficient, minimalist and healthy design is still our priority while designing the house, open space concept with a lot of openings that builds a fine connection between the indoor and green outdoor area and well-circulated natural air and light came off a great idea that translates all the briefs.

The order of our nature-enthusiastic client is want to have a spacious garden within the house. Moreover, the hook site location, benefiting of gaining more greenery area around the house. The open plan 1st floor sits next to the inner courtyard, which becomes the house's main spectacle, giving the whole area access toward the garden visually and physically.

We keep exploring the whole design to be as simple as possible, be it massing, color tone, opening, or layout to give the highlight to the “SPECIAL ELEMENT”.

Rumasoka — brick screen and entrance
One of the focal elements of the facade is the special brickwork. It provides visual character and privacy while allowing natural airflow into the inner court and service area.
Rumasoka — corner facade and natural stone
Our “SPECIAL ELEMENT” is this aggregation of Palimanan flagstone that becomes the envelope of this house inside out. We want the natural material to blur the boundary between inside and outside.
Rumasoka — natural stone living room opening to the courtyard

The interior is filled with abundant natural light from large openings around the house, supporting healthier living and more efficient electrical usage in daytime. In contrast with the first floor, the second floor is dominated by white tones, aligned with the exterior. Natural stone flooring creates a calm atmosphere for daytime activities and rest at night.

Natural elements and openings establish a fine connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. In the bathrooms, generous skylights frame the clouds and stars, while natural stone walls extend the same material language into the private areas.

On a compact corner site, proportion keeps the house approachable at close range. Brick screens, natural stone and planted edges bring texture to a simple form.

A modern interpretation of rumah nenek, shaped by the owners’ wish for the warmth of a familiar home. Two building masses follow the site’s axis, leaving room for the house to grow as the family’s needs change.

An east-facing facade is sheltered by a generous gable roof, overhangs and recessed openings. Perforated brickwork draws air through the house. Between the two masses, a semi-outdoor connector opens towards the backyard—an everyday place to pause, gather and enjoy the breeze.
